Impact of Motivation

Motivation plays a vital role in our life. Each of us needs Motivation in our Life. If you are a working Professional, Student, House wife etc. Without Motivation we at times choose an incorrect path which leads to lot of dissatisfaction, Mental Tension and we end up failing our target. Missing our Goal is the biggest pain for any human being. If you want your dreams come true always seek feedback and be ready to listen to some good or bad things about you. Your peers, Boss or your family members or any other person around you can guide you and keep you motivated if he/she is concern about your. I bet you that if you try for the genuine feedback you’ll get that and it will help you to achieve your targets and keep you motivated.
I am going to share different Types of Motivation and their impact in our day to day life.
There are two types of motivation, Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation. It's important to understand that we all are not same; thus effectively motivating your employees requires that you gain an understanding of the different types of motivation. Each individual may have different qualities which makes us special. Such an understanding will enable you to better categorize your team members and apply the appropriate type of motivation. You will find each member different and each member's motivational needs will be varied as well. Some people respond best to intrinsic which means "from within" and will meet any obligation of an area of their passion. Quite the reverse, others will respond better to extrinsic motivation which, in their world, provides that difficult tasks can be dealt with provided there is a reward upon completion of that task. Try to become an expert in determining which type will work best with which team members. There is a possibility you may not be able to understand your peers correctly but don’t lose your hope and try it again with more preparation.
Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation means that the individual's motivational stimuli are coming from within. The individual has the desire to perform a specific task, because its results are in accordance with his belief system or fulfills a desire and therefore importance is attached to it.
Our deep-rooted desires have the highest motivational power. Below are some examples:
·     Acceptance: We all need to feel that we, as well as our decisions, are accepted by our co-workers. Giving Orders to you peers or your repartees will not work every time. We need to be smart enough to judge our colleagues. Your few harsh words will spoil your image. Believe me it takes ages to improve your spoiled image.
·     Curiosity: We all have the desire to be in the know. Always appreciate your peers if they have done anything good for you or for the organization.
·     Honor: We all need to respect the rules and to be ethical. Mantra is Give Respect & Take Respect.
·     Independence: We all need to feel we are unique.  Always provide personal space to your peers and try to check with them after each interval to get the status. Let them take the ownership of the task you assigned. With this small action you are making them a better professional which will help them to compete with the world down the line.
·     Order: We all need to be organized. Order doesn’t means order like Hitler ordered to kill and a gun man killed the whole nation. Help your peers to learn how to customize the work and set it as per priority.
·     Power: We all have the desire to be able to have influence. If you are able to identify that your peer have knowledge and it can be used to improve the group give them some power to show their caliber. Let them lead and guide them for better results.
·     Social contact: We all need to have some social interactions. Being a Manger it’s not necessary that you need to keep a track on each and every activity of your reporters. They are also human allow them some time to influence others so they can create their own repo.
·     Social Status: We all have the desire to feel important. If you have noticed your peer or reporters has done something good. Give them a Pat on Back. One small appreciation can do wonders.
Extrinsic Motivation
Extrinsic motivation means that the individual's motivational stimuli are coming from outside. In other words, our desires to perform a task are controlled by an outside source. Note that even though the stimuli are coming from outside, the result of performing the task will still be rewarding for the individual performing the task.
Extrinsic motivation is external in nature. The most well-known and the most debated motivation is money. Below are some other examples:
·         Employee of the month award
·         Benefit package
·         Bonuses
·         Organized activities
